 Dear Fellow Member,

The Kelowna Yacht Club has been a significant feature of Kelowna’s downtown waterfront for almost 70 years.  It began with a few docks for families to enjoy to the now expansive moorage basin which provides our growing member base with a safe harbour while adding a unique feature to the lakefront for Okanagan residents and visitors to enjoy. It is our legacy to share the value and significance of our organization with our families and the City of Kelowna.

Our striking new clubhouse, opening this summer, is an historic milestone in our club’s development and will bring pleasure to all who visit Kelowna’s vibrant waterfront. This realization of a long-held dream is the result of untold hours of planning, labour and effort by our members over our long history. In reality, it is their legacy to us and future generations of members and residents of the Okanagan.

The Board and our current members honour that legacy and recognize that others would like the opportunity to contribute their own legacy. We have long term members who feel strongly that belonging to KYC has enriched their lives and that of their families. They have asked about the possibility of making some kind of contribution or donation to KYC for the many years of enjoyment they have experienced as members.

To commemorate the new clubhouse and to add to the club’s rich history, the Board has established The Kelowna Yacht Club Legacy Fund. This initiative provides an exciting opportunity for members to participate in celebrating this historic achievement and enhancing our club’s future. The purpose of the Kelowna Yacht Club Legacy Fund is to acquire and display historic KYC memorabilia, art, furniture, commemorative displays, etc for our members’ and the public’s enjoyment and to enhance the ambiance of the clubhouse.  This will be accomplished by purchasing objects, commissioning custom works, donations from the public and decoration by member volunteers.  We hope to acquire funds from member and public donations, fund raising events, testamentary documents, trusts, foundations and like entities.

If you have a piece of art, memorabilia or object that you feel will enhance our new clubhouse or you wish to explore how you might contribute to the Legacy Fund by bestowing a donation, please contact the Committee through the KYC office staff or via their confidential email account at legacy.fund@kelownayachtclub.com.  Thank you for taking this opportunity to add your personal legacy to our fund and for contributing to the enjoyment of our families and club members for generations to come.

Sincerely,

Doug_Hardham_2
