Adult Sailing Lessons
Learn to sail on a 25-foot keelboat. Taught by Sail Canada certified instructors, each session has a maximum of four participants (14 years+) with two days spent out on the water. No experience is necessary, and you can learn at any age. The knowledge you will learn is very valuable and will help you get to the next level, Basic Cruising Standard.

In this complete sailing course, you will become autonomous and learn all about terms & definitions, gear & equipment, safety, Canadian regulations, weather, duties of the skipper and crew, seamanship, maneuvering under power, handling under sail, making fast and snugging down. Taught by Sail Canada certified instructors; each session has a maximum of four participants (14 years+). Recommended: Boat Operator Course You will work towards your Basic Cruising Standard certification.

Learn to sail with members of the Kelowna Yacht Club sailing fleet. This introductory Adult Learn to Sail program, open to those 18+, is an opportunity to go sailing on a wide selection of keelboats with experienced skippers. Learn the elements of keelboat design, sailing theory and boat handling. The course also features sessions on safety at sea, knots to know, weather forecasting and rules for collision avoidance. This course is a natural precursor for anyone who is interested in purchasing a sailboat, becoming involved in the Kelowna Yacht Club fleet racing or pursuing further training.
