SUMMARY:Safe Boating Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:Join us in recognizing Safe Boating Awareness Week\, a national initiative dedicated to promoting safe and responsible boating practices as we head into the summer season. We encourage all members and those in our community to take a moment to review key safety guidelines before heading out on the water. \n\nSafe Boating Awareness Week highlights several important reminders that help protect everyone on our waterways: \nKey Boating Safety Tips\n\nWear Your Lifejacket: Over 80% of boating‑related drowning victims were not wearing a lifejacket—making this the single most important safety action you can take.\nBoat Sober: Alcohol and cannabis impair judgment and reaction time. Always designate a sober operator.\nTake a Safety Course: Whether you’re new to boating or experienced\, continuing education strengthens your skills and decision-making.\nPrepare for the Unexpected: Check the weather\, ensure your equipment is in good condition\, and be aware of cold‑water shock risks.\nFile a Float Plan: Let someone on shore know where you’re going and when you plan to return.\nUse an Engine Cut‑Off Switch: A simple yet vital device to keep you safe should you fall overboard.\n\nFor more information and resources\, visit our Boating Safety page. \nLet’s work together to keep our waters safe\, enjoyable\, and accessible for everyone this season.
