- Time: 6 PM
- What: Two Fleets: White Sails and Doubled Handed
- Why: More opportunities to get into sailing
Calling all aspiring sailors and boat owners! Join us every Thursday evening in July and August for an incredible opportunity to dive into the world of sail racing. Our race series is designed with newcomers in mind, offering a welcoming environment to introduce new sailors to the excitement of competitive sailing.
In our White Sails fleet, the focus is on fun and camaraderie. We encourage boat owners to bring along new sailors, providing them with an ideal platform to experience the joy of racing firsthand. Even non-racing boat owners can join in on the adventure by finding experienced crew members from our crew bank. It’s the perfect chance to learn, grow, and make lasting connections within the sailing community.
Simultaneously on Thursdays, our double handed fleet offers an exhilarating challenge for those seeking a more intense racing experience. With just two sailors on board, you’ll test your skills and teamwork, guided by the power of free-flying sails. It’s an opportunity to push your limits and embrace the thrill of competition.
Safety is our priority, and we ensure a fair playing field by following the racing rules of sailing. To participate, simply declare your intention to race and indicate your fleet of choice on Ch 72 before the start of each Thursday race. There are no entry fees or prizes – the true reward lies in the excitement and growth you’ll experience on the water.
Don’t miss out on this amazing chance to embark on a sailing adventure. Join us at 6 PM every Thursday in July and August this summer, bring your enthusiasm, and let us introduce you to the thrilling world of sail racing. Whether you’re a newcomer or an experienced sailor looking to expand your horizons, the Kelowna Yacht Club White Sails Race Series is your ticket to an unforgettable journey on the beautiful Okanagan Lake.
