Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Does this give a certification?
A: This course does not give a certification; it is designed to help you to start building experience and get you connected with some of the sailing community here at the club. We will have some additional program options becoming available in the spring for beginners to intermediate-level sailors running throughout the late spring/summer 2023 season.

Q: What if I miss a class?
A: We do not have any make-up classes planned; however, the instructors are really great about summarizing previous lessons and helping you feel as though you are caught up with important information.

Q: What if the weather is not very good?
A: Rain or shine we will go out on the water. If there is a lack of wind during the on-water sessions, we will still proceed as we can cater the lesson to cover plenty of hands-on experience topics. If there is lightning or a storm, we will contact the participants and inform them of a new plan or refund.

Q: Who should we contact with any questions?
A: Email sailingschool@kelownayachtclub.com

Our experience with our sailing lesson was really great. The instructor was really thorough and patient while teaching, he was full of tips and advice while explaining what we were doing and why. All around, a great experience!

- Amanda (2022)

Thank you for making our day on the water wonderful! The pontoon boat was great, clean and ready to go with very helpful staff.

- Ken (2022)

It was my son Max’s first time attending a camp at the Kelowna Yacht Club and we weren’t sure what to expect. Max had such a great time and really connected with the instructors. They did a great job of balancing fun, education and safety for the kids. The instructors also made sure to talk to all of the parents at pick-up to let us know what they covered and did each day. Max will be back next summer, for at least a week or two!

- Angela (2022)

We have truly enjoyed our summer boating experiences and appreciate all the time and energy you all have put into making our experiences wonderful!!

- Judy (2021)

We will be back next summer for sure!

- Avy (2021)

We had the best time today, the instructors are fabulous! Thank you very much for sharing your expertise.

- Barb (2021)

I just wanted to reach out to say how much fun my son had at the camp this week. His coaches did a fantastic job. He was even thrilled the day that they had to play indoors, your team is clearly innovative and able to adapt to whatever the weather (or the pandemic) throws at them. I told him we’d definitely sign up again next summer and he said he’d like to sign up EVERY SUMMER.
