The Kelowna Boat Show is looking for volunteers for Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, 2026. This is the perfect opportunity to get involved at the Club and meet new members. Get certified and gain the confidence to handle everything from everyday operating techniques to emergency radio procedures. This comprehensive program covers the essential "A to Z" of marine communication, including the uses of marine radios, choice of frequencies, operation, phonetic alphabet, procedural words and phrases, as well as Digital Selective Calling and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (DSC/GMDSS).

Course Details:
· Format: Two half-day classroom sessions (including the exam!)
· Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
· Upcoming Dates: April 11-12 | May 16-17
· Access: Open to all community members, no membership required!

Whether you’re a total beginner or ready to step up to Skipper, our Basic Cruising Standard is designed for all skill levels. Our first session of the season kicks off Tuesday, March 31, and we still have a few spots left for our April course.

The Details:
· 3 Classroom Sessions (Tuesdays | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM)
· 3 On-Water Sessions (Sundays | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

What's Included:
· Course textbook, study materials
· Ashore and afloat instruction
· Logbook, exam and Sail Canada certification
· Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)
· A lifetime of lake memories, starting with the right skills
