KYC Junior Members - bylaw 3b

3. Membership Classes. Members shall be comprised of the following Membership classes:

b. Junior Member. This Member:

i. has not yet attained their nineteenth (19) birthday;
ii. shall not be eligible to hold moorage;
iii. may have access to the moorage basin in accordance with Regulations;
iv. shall be entitled to all Clubhouse privileges except use of a House Account;
v. shall not be eligible to hold office or vote at any General Meeting of the Club but may
attend as an observer with no stated opinion;
vi. shall not have spousal and family privileges as described in these Bylaws;
vii. shall not pay an Initiation Fee;
viii. shall pay Annual Member Dues and all other fees, assessments or debts as required by
Club Policies; and
ix. shall be responsible and accountable for the actions of their guests.

Any Junior Member in good standing, upon attaining the age of nineteen (19) years, who
wishes to maintain Membership in the Club, may apply for an Intermediate or Regular
Membership no later than ninety (90) days after their nineteenth (19) birthday and as
prescribed by Regulations and Club Policies. If approved, such applicant shall not be required
to pay an Initiation Fee for this change.

Junior Membership Initiation Fees and Annual Dues

Membership fees, expenses, and services may change without notice. For applications approved following November 30th, select annual expenses are subject to prorated pricing for the first fiscal year of membership.

One-time Initiation Fee*: N/A

*Note: The initiation fee is waived for all Junior Members who advance to a Regular or Intermediate membership!

Applications for Membership. Any person may apply to the Board for Membership at the Kelowna Yacht Club using the supplied form prescribed and issued by the Club. All applicants for Membership, shall be proposed and seconded by two (2) KYC Members in good standing or otherwise vetted in accordance with Club Policies and shall be accompanied by such non-refundable deposits prescribed by Club Policies.
If you do not have a sponsor, the Club can arrange a meeting with the membership committee. Be aware, this may delay the application process.

As a prospective Junior Member of the Kelowna Yacht Club, you agree upon acceptance of membership to be governed by the Code of Conduct & Regulations of the Kelowna Yacht Club, the Club Bylaws and Policies as set forth by the membership and Board of Directors, and declare all particulars shown are correct.

As a parent or guardian of a prospective Junior Member of the Kelowna Yacht Club, you agree upon acceptance of membership that the junior member you are signing for is to be governed by the Code of Conduct & Regulations of the Kelowna Yacht Club, the Club Bylaws and Policies as set forth by the membership and Board of Directors, and declare all particulars in this application are shown as correct.

Next Steps

Once this application is submitted, you will receive an email confirmation that your application has been submitted to the Kelowna Yacht Club.

The Club is not always accepting applications for new members. However, upon submission of your application, a member of the KYC Member Services Team will be in touch to discuss your application.

If spots are available, the KYC Member Services Team will then arrange a Prospect Member Orientation Tour.

If both parties decide to go forward with membership, the Prospect Member’s application will be presented at the monthly Board of Directors meeting for approval. Those meetings take place on the last Thursday of every month. The application and tour process deadline is the Monday prior.

Following the BOD meeting, and Board approval, the New Designee(s) will receive an email Welcoming them to the Club as an official member.

Once your membership has been approved by the Board of Directors:

  • Your initial payment can be paid by phone or in person by dropping in or calling our Member Services office (Reception) which is open seven days a week from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Call here: (250) 762-3310 Ext. 200.
  • Once your initial payment has been completed, you can set up your log-in for the Member Central side of our website or sign onto the Kelowna Yacht Club App, to make future payments online.
  • Once signed in as a KYC member, click on Statements. This is where you can select “Make Recurring Payments” to have your House Account purchases charged to your credit card. Along with payments, the Member Login side of the website, or KYC App, will allow you to make reservations, sign up for events, behind-the-scenes information on the goings of the Club, and of course make payments and see your statements.

Paying your account

We accept the following forms of payment: credit card, debit, cheque, web payment through your online bank account, and pre-authorized debit. Credit card payments can only be made online once you have paid your initial payment. The application deposit will be credited towards the initiation fee upon membership approval.
