Membership Leave Options
Taking Time Away From the Club
Life circumstances can change, and there may be times when active participation at Kelowna Yacht Club is no longer feasible.
Rather than resigning your membership, eligible members may apply for a membership leave. A leave allows members to step away from the Club while preserving the value of their membership and maintaining a pathway to return in the future.
For many members, a leave is a preferred alternative to cancellation when an absence is expected to be temporary.
Why Choose a Leave?
A membership leave allows eligible members to:
- Preserve the value of their membership
- Maintain a pathway for future reinstatement
- Return to the Club without paying a new initiation fee
- Avoid rejoining the Club as a new member in the future
- Take time away during periods of travel, relocation, health concerns, financial considerations, or other life changes
- May return before the end of their leave period if their circumstances change
Members who choose to cancel or resign and later wish to return to the Club must reapply for membership and will be subject to the initiation fee, membership requirements, and any waiting lists in effect at the time they rejoin.

Important Information
Application Deadline
To avoid renewal charges for the upcoming membership year, leave applications should be submitted by October 31.
Applications received after the renewal deadline may be subject to applicable renewal fees and membership policies.
Moorage
Members approved for either a One-Year Leave or Special Leave must relinquish any associated moorage privileges for the duration of their leave.
Returning to Active Membership
Members whose circumstances change may apply for reinstatement before the end of their leave period.
This flexibility allows members to return to active participation sooner than originally planned if their situation changes.
